What Is Ceramic Coating?

Our ceramic coatings are generally used for automotive heat management and performance enhancement. They have been tried and tested on rally, track and high performance street cars and motorcycles over the past ten years with zero adhesion failure and excellent overall performance. We currently offer ceramic coatings in several finishes, and will be adding to the range, as and when more pigments become available.

We are a factory approved agent for Cerakote™, arguably one of the best coatings on the market. Typically used on firearms, this coating is possibly the hardest, most durable of finishes currently available, capable of withstanding the toughest of environments.

If you are after a quote, then please call or email us for further information. We can undertake anything from one-off bespoke projects, to large batch work.

Common Questions

We receive frequent enquiries about Ceramic Coating. Here are some common questions, we’re often asked by our customers. If you would like more information on this or any of our other services, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

In general, ceramic coating is best suited to parts that are exposed to very high temperatures, but it is also used where durability of finish is the prime objective. This is where we would recommend Cerakote™, as it fulfils both such requirements. Uses of ceramic coating include, but are not limited to, exhaust manifolds, full systems, turbo housings, inlet manifolds, headers, heat shields, engine cases/castings, and suspension components. If you are unsure about the suitability of a part, then please contact us so that we can advise you further.

Ceramic coating, unlike other coatings has numerous advantages. Firstly it provides an excellent thermal barrier and can withstand temperatures up to 1800°F. This makes it an obvious choice for exhaust components, as there is no degradation in either the finish or the colour, even after numerous heat cycles. Other advantages are that it improves thermal efficiency, reduces radiated heat levels, maintains uniform temperature throughout an exhaust system, keeps the engine compartment cooler, extends header life, provides superior protection against rust and corrosion, reduces parasite drag losses, is easy to clean and maintain and is available in a variety of colours and finishes.

Ceramic coating or Cerakote™, are specialized surface treatments. As such they are somewhat more expensive than traditional methods, such as powder coating for example, but the longevity they provide, in terms of protection, make them a sound choice when it comes down to the cost. Prices depend on the type and size of the part to be coated, as well as the preparation time involved, as this might entail media blasting and masking of delicate areas, prior to application. We are happy to provide you with an estimate if required.
